The nominations you clamour for may cost the gracious election Our Saviour was crowned for. The instruments of power and machinery must never be used in means that will dishonour Him who establishes authority and raises kings, deposing others at will.
This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will and setteth up over it the basest of men.
Daniel 4:17 (KJV)
Those who are humble, lowly even abased are fit for the throne. How peculiar a thought this must have been for the most powerful man in the world to hear. Especially when he had rest in his house and flourished in his palace with every wonder of modern warfare and technology readily available a word comes being a demand, a decree and the intent that all living may know rule belongs first to God. No one else can be deemed fit to justly exercise dominion over men, save of course such a one is abased.
With the lowly, there is a true encounter with one’s reality, humanity and its very transitoriness. This naturally makes more bitter the pains in life but seasons with a sweetness that we so often put aside. Better is a little where there is love than the fattened oxen where love is not. Dear King, you have an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy even a lasting inheritance in people and in the Kingdom. God alone is the sure Sovereign, men were not made to reign over others or lord them, but to serve and honour the likeness shared with God in all.
Will what you fear,
What you think,
What troubles you,
Be reasons enough to truly yield unto the King that is higher than you. Let him guide your thoughts, still your fears and silence your troubles. He has made all things even thrones and principalities, powers and dominion for His sake, that they may serve him. All he has need of is a willing partner, a man abased and lowly to obey the Ancient of Days.
Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
Daniel 4:27 (KJV)
An exaugural of personal interest, claim and demands. A free commitment to the law of liberty? Assume speedily the office of the Master. Seeing you will not succour himself is coming for the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. (Psalms 12:5) The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted. (Psalms 12:8) Settle your scandals and descale the sandals you have used to trample all men, turn to him who pardons abundantly, whose mercies are unending. Perhaps like the monarch of old, you might find restoration, only He will demand what you have done from you! Take heed O King what you do. Refuse not the Lord of Lords your heart to move whithersoever He wills.
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble. Daniel 4:37 (ESV)
